Workshop

Portraits Unplugged: Environmental Portraiture with Martha Casanave

Session 2: July 17, 2010
9 am to 4 pm
Vista Lobos Center, Corner 3rd & Torres, Carmel, CA

© 2010 Martha Casanave Amanda & Natasha Zeligs, 1998, 2007

In this one day workshop, Martha Casanave will present a nuts and bolts methodical approach to environmental portraiture. Keeping in mind that the photographer is often as nervous as the sitter, we will discuss ways to increase the comfort level for both.

We will do an on-location environmental portrait in Carmel using Polaroid materials to demonstrate each step in the process. Other topics to be addressed are composition, and use of natural lighting.

Participants should bring their film or digital camera equipment. There will be time for an outdoor portrait session and for photographing the models after Martha has finished the demonstration sitting. Those participants using film cameras will need to bring a roll of film for outside photographing and a roll of film suitable for indoor photography (e.g. ISO 400).
