Cannon joined the CPA Board in October of 2010 and was elected to serve as Board President, effective January 1, 2012.

Richard is a native of San Jose, California. He retired in 2004 from the aerospace industry where he held a variety of positions as a human resources executive.

Cannon holds a BA in behavioral science and an MA in education administration, both from San Jose State University. He is a member of the ImageMakers of Monterey, the Independent Photographers, and the Carmel Foundation Photography Group.

He and his wife, Bette, have lived in Monterey since 2004.
